HOTİCULTURE PROGRAM

Horticulture program is a two-year associate degree program. Within this program, theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the fields of cultivation, propagation, harvesting and storage techniques of fruit growing, viticulture, vegetable growing, greenhouse and mushroom cultivation are provided.
The school has a 11-decare of collection garden in which there are temperate climate fruits (peach, nectarine, plum, apricot, almond, pecan walnut, apple, pear, quince) and subtropic climate fruits (citrus fruits, olive, pomegranate). In addition, there is a 1-decare vegetable (asparagus, strawberry, carrot, radish, potato) cultivation area together with a 600 m2 sapling production greenhouse. Students are able to get the opportunity of practicing in these areas at least four hours a week.
Training includes classes such as botany, plant ecology, horticultural mechanization, irrigation technique, mushroom cultivation, plant physiology, fruit growing, vegetable growing, viticulture, greenhouse vegetable cultivation, pruning, grafting, seedling and seedling cultivation, disease and pest control, post-harvest operations and marketing, plant feeding and soil knowledge.
During their training periods, students have the chance to take part in the related agricultural organizations and to experince the private enterprises, and participate symposiums and agricultural fairs.
