DEPARTMENT OF PLANT AND ANİMAL PRODUCTİON
 
General Description 
Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Ortaca Vocational School was founded in 1994. Students have been admitted since 1998 for Horticulture Program which is belongs to Crop and Animal Production Department. Each year, 25 students are accepted at the Horticulture Program. Lessons are given in Turkish. Our department aims to train qualified personnel needed in the production branches operating in the plant and animal production sectors of our region.
 
Qualification Awarded
Horticulture Program accepts students with YGS-6 point. Fulfilling all the requirements of Schedule 60 business days of successful completion of the internship program and the graduates "Agricultural Technician" will receive the degree of a two year degree.
Qualification Requirements and Regulation
Which is available in the program (a total of 120 ECTS credits): Successful completion of all the courses and to have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 required for graduation condition for qualification.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates can work  at  the Ministry of the Food, Agriculture and Livestock , organic or inorganic farms, organic markets, agricultural production inputs (seeds, fertilizer, agricultural fighting) private sector organizations , organic product certification organizations and their own land.
Access to Further Studies
After graduating from the organic farming program they can continue their education in the relevant section of the Faculty of Agriculture which are taking enough points in DGS (Vertical Jump Test) and have the title of agricultural engineer.

Department Facilities
Ortaca Vocational School Crop and Animal Production Department has 1304 m2 greenhouse and 12000 m2 open field for application lessons. There are grown vegetables (tomato, eggplant, cucumber, pepper, melon) of greenhouse, subtropic climate fruits (citrus fruits, olive, pomegranate, figs) and other fruit species in outside area. Students are able to get the opportunity of practicing in these areas at least four hours a week. The School's strong academic staff, offers student a quality education in both theory and practice. Students can test their theoretical training with adequate facilities, and under supervision, in the gardens.
